State Institution of Culture Stavropol Regional Zoo Exotarium

"Stavropol Regional Zoo Exotarium" was founded on April 21, 1998, is a non-profit institution of cultural, educational, research, educational profile. It is a museum of wildlife and belongs to the category of zoos. Stavropol "Zooexotarium", an organization engaged in the collection, maintenance, study and display of various exotic animals. More than 100 species and 1000 animals are presented for viewing.

Here you can see exotic representatives from all over the world: reptiles, mammals, birds, aquarium fish, insects. There is detailed information about each animal.

In the building of the exotarium halls (exhibitions) are shaded, the light is only in the terrariums. In 4 rooms, 30 glazed terrariums of a rectangular shape of the survey type, which contain exotic animals, are decorated with scenery fragments of animal habitats. The hall with 13 large aquariums, which feature fish, water turtles, etc.

In 2008, a children’s contact zoo was opened, which is adjacent to one of the entrances of the zooexotarium. Visitors to the contact zoo admire not only animals, but also the beauty of the design of the territory, its buildings, streams, bridges. This is a unique place, where children can not only look at animals, but also feed them, play with their favorite pet. Children will be able to touch small and harmless representatives of the fauna - donkey, lambs, piglets, rabbits ...

According to biologists, a contact zoo is the most successful way to introduce children to wildlife. When communicating directly with animals, the baby understands that animals can become his friends, they need his care and protection.

In order to popularize natural science knowledge and environmental education of the population, work is carried out on the main types of activities in the form of: • a wide display of animal collections in a stationary exposition; • conducting thematic and sightseeing excursions around the "Zoo Exotarium"; • organizing school lessons and classes on the basis of the "Zoo Exotarium" in the circle of young naturalists. The main goal of the circle is to bring the science of nature to children in an accessible form.

Stavropol Regional Zoo Exotarium is a full member of the Euro-Asian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EARAZA), a member of the Union of Museums of Russia.
