Stavropol Territory, Stavropol, M. Morozov Street, 12
About the company:
The art gallery is located in the building of the former mosque. In 1913, on the initiative of the Muslim society of Stavropol, architect G.P. Kuskov began the construction of the building of the cathedral mosque. Soon the white stone structure, made in the best traditions of oriental architecture, became one of the decorations of the city. The building of the mosque is a monument of history and culture and is protected by the state.
In 1987, an art gallery of landscapes of the honored artist of Russia, honorary citizen of Stavropol P.M. Grechishkin (1923-2009) was opened here. The reason for its opening was the artist’s donation to the city of a collection of his paintings. Initially, the collection consisted of 167 paintings, but thanks to the artist’s active activity, the collections of the gallery were replenished and now there are 490 paintings and 50 graphic works. The main genre in the work of P.M. Grechishkin is landscape.
