Museum-estate of V.I. Smirnov
Stavropol Territory, Stavropol, St. Dzerzhinsky, 105
About the company:
This cute little museum is located in the heart of Stavropol on Dzerzhinsky Street. In the nineteenth century, the hospitable owner of the estate was Vasily Ifvanovich Smirnov. A talented artist, an incorrigible romantic, the soul of the company, and to a certain extent the spiritual authority of the highest Stavropol society of that time.
The house-museum is a typical residential house of the Stavropol family with all the accompanying elements - extensions, a garden, an unchanged well with the cleanest ice water. In such estates lived Stavropol families with average income in the middle of the nineteenth century.
The estate was built in 1877. The whole atmosphere of the house is preserved completely - in its original form. The wicker chairs, the magnificent piano, the paintings on the walls, even the tablecloth on the table is authentic. All this was donated by the artist’s daughter, Nina Smirnova. She lived in the family home until old age. After her departure to another city, this house became a city museum in 1985.
The hospitable house was open to guests. Here were the famous Stavropol musician Vasily Dmitrievich Benevsky, who wrote music for many theatrical productions of that time, the editor and creator of the thundering newspaper North Caucasus Dmitry Evseev, the founder of Ossetian literature, writer and democrat Costa Khetagurov and many, many others.
