Sviyazhsk

Unusual patient

Description:

In the Sviyazhsk psychiatric hospital was kept an unusual patient Nadezhda Vladimirovna Ivanova-Vasilyeva, her letters she signed in the name of Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanova. She was convicted in the case of the “Clandestine Church-Monarchical Organization” in 1934. In the archive there are several letters of Ivanova-Vasilyeva in which she refers to Ekaterina Peshkova and Stalin. All of them were stitched into her medical history and did not go beyond the limits of the mental hospital. The prisoner knew that he was writing nowhere (there were no answers). Ivanova-Vasilyeva also tried to forward her letters through nurses, as evidenced by her medical record. Once upon a time (Oh, happiness!) she succeeded! There was a person who was imbued with her story, believed her and was not afraid to violate the regime of the special corps in which Ivanova-Vasilyeva was kept. He took one of the letters to the free and delivered it to Moscow. It was a very brave and even risky act! The letter lay on the table of Ekaterina Peshkova (wife of M. Gorky), on it she wrote “mentally ill”. H.P. and sent it to the archives. 1971. Ivanova-Vasilyeva died quietly in the mental hospital of Sviyazhsk, located within the walls of one of the oldest monasteries of Tatarstan. Today the architectural ensemble of the Monastery of the Assumption of the Mother of God is a UNESCO monument.
