Donskoe
Kulom district, Republic of Komi
Description:
Don Lake is also known under other names: Donty and Don, located in the center of Ust-Kulomsky district in the southern part of the Komi Republic. The lake is part of the marsh reserve of Donta of regional importance, and also claims to be included in the list of “7 Wonders of the Komi Republic”.
Around the lake there is a sphagnum Don swamp. It is assumed that earlier the swamp and several lakes were a single huge reservoir of glacial water. After the retreat of post-maximal glaciation, the territory began to overgrow and shallow.
In the Don lake there are several varieties of fish, among which: perch, pike, carp, roach, yarsh and others.
