The museum expositions introduce the traditional Komi culture, history, nature and literature of the region.
The museum was founded in 1911. In the historical part of the city there are five buildings of the National Museum of the Republic of Komi. The museum has formed a rich collection of more than 260 thousand items, including unique items of archaeology of the European Northeast, monuments of icon painting of the XVII-XX centuries, a collection of numismatics I thousand BC-II thousand AD, handwritten old printed books of the XVI-XIX centuries, a rich photo documentary archive, collections of everyday life, memorial items of public and political figures, creative intellectuals, natural science collections.
