The National Gallery is the only art museum in the Komi Republic, which stores about 7000 works of art of the XVII - early XXI century. To date, the structure of the collection has formed the main sections: Christian art, Russian art of the XVII - early XX centuries, art of Russia of the XX century, foreign art of the XVII - early XX centuries and fine art of the Komi Republic. The section of Russian art of the XVIII - early XX century includes more than 200 works of painting, graphics, sculpture and decorative and applied art. The section was formed at the expense of transfers from the Department of Arts under the Sovnarkom of the RSFSR (1944), from the State Russian Museum (1949), and from the Komi Republican Museum of Local History (1952), from where the art collection brought to Ust-Sysolsk by D.T. Yanovich in the late 20s of the XX century from the State Museum Fund (Moscow) was transferred. The art section of Russia of the XX century includes works of painting, graphics, sculpture and decorative and applied art. In the structure of the section, a small but bright collection consists of works by avant-garde artists of the 1910-1920s, most of which come from the Museum of Painting Culture disbanded in the late 20s of the XX century (Moscow). A small section of foreign art consists of works by masters of art schools of Holland, Italy, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, America XVII - early XX century. Most of the works come from the collection of D.T. Yanovich (GMF, Moscow). The genre composition of the section is diverse, but for the most part it is a picturesque and watercolor landscape of the XIX century. Foreign decorative and applied art is represented by single, but bright products of the leading European porcelain productions of the XVIII-early XX (Meissen and Vienna porcelain manufactories, Copenhagen porcelain factory and others), Chinese and Japanese porcelain vessels of the XVIII-XIX centuries, as well as single products of French glass and bronze of the XIX century. The fine arts section of the Komi Republic today is the most numerous, complete, and most actively formed. This includes works of painting, graphics, sculpture and decorative and applied art, created during the beginning. XX to start. XXI centuries, traces the history of the formation and development of professional art of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A feature of the section are the monographic collections of artists. |
Since 1993, the National Gallery of the Komi Republic occupies a two-storey building of the former Theological School, built in 1888-1890, according to the project of Vologda architect V. Fedorov. |
