At the Department of Zoology of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of Syktyvkar State University, a zoological museum has been created and operates, which is inextricably linked with the educational, scientific and educational work of the department. This is the only museum of this profile in the universities of the Komi Republic. In total, the funds store a large collection of representatives of the animal world, which is widely used in the educational process. The decision to establish zoological collections was made in 1973. In the first years, students and teachers took an active part in the collection of animal materials during the period of educational and industrial practices. In addition, the central universities of the country and scientific institutions - Zool. in-t of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (S-Petersburg), In-t Oceanology - Moscow, AtlantNIRO - Kaliningrad, etc. were of great help in completing the collections. They donated to the museum the inhabitants of sea and ocean waters, which we could not collect in our region. These are sponges, coral polyps, seaworms and crustaceans, shells of mollusks and much more. The exhibition hall exhibits about 8000 different animals in the form of wet preparations, dry objects, stuffed animals. There are also small groups that attract visitors. Attractive and well-made stuffed rare and protected species of animals - gray dragon - from reptiles; Skopa and Orlan - whitetail - from birds, etc. The museum conducts a lot of educational and career guidance work among students of the city and the republic. |
