All Saints Church

Russia, Rostov region, Taganrog, Per. Camp 2, old cemetery.

Description:

The Church of All Saints is the center of the necropolis of the XIX-XX centuries, located in the old part of the city. It was laid in 1810, and in 1824 was attributed to the Taganrog Cathedral.

In 1826, the wife of the then tsar, Alexander I, donated an impressive sum of 1,000 rubles to the church.

The first priest of the church was appointed Pavel Afanasyevich Dmitrevsky, and the first headman was the merchant Gerasim Fedorovich Depaldo. Thanks to his donation of 10 thousand rubles, the construction of the temple was completed quite quickly. In 1837, the temple was rebuilt and this is how we see it today.

In 1860, the church needed major repairs, which was done, plus a refectory and a bell tower were added to the main building.

From other Taganrog churches, the All-Holy Church is distinguished by the original iconostasis, made in mosaic technique and consisting of enamel, porcelain and a mosaic cross.

Not far from the Church of All Saints is the burial of St. Blessed Paul of Taganrog, deeply revered by the inhabitants of the city. Today, a chapel has been built near his grave.
