Monument "Oath of Youth"
The monument is located in the square on Spartakovsky lane.
Description:
The monument "Oath of Youth" was erected in 1973, dedicated to the heroic struggle of an underground youth organization for the liberation of the city. The monument is a steel sculpture of a young man and a girl who take an oath to join an underground organization.
During the six hundred days during which the city was occupied by the Germans, the organization, whose number was ten times larger than the Young Guard, was actively fighting against the occupiers. Members of the organization blew up important facilities, damaged power and communication lines, derailed trains with military cargo and in all other ways fought the Nazis until the arrival of Soviet troops.
