In ancient times, the territory of modern Taganrog acted as the intersection of the main trade routes that connected Asia with Europe. The port of Taganrog was founded as a military fortress in 1698 by Peter I. Soon, customs were established here, and foreign merchant ships began to sail.
At the beginning of the XVIII century, the port was a major trading center. It was reborn after Soviet times in March 1991, when it was opened to foreign ships and international trade.
In recent years, the port has changed a lot, it has reconstructed and modernized fixed assets, created a fundamentally new management system and significantly expanded the list of services provided by the enterprise.
The main activities of the Taganrog port include unloading, loading and fastening of cargo, as well as freight forwarding services and various warehouse operations.
