About the company:

Purovsky District Museum of Local History was founded in 1972 as a museum working on a voluntary basis. The District Museum of Local History is one of the many museums that arose at the initiative of the public. At the origins of its creation were caring people who wanted to leave the memory of the heroic work of the pioneers, to acquaint the visiting population with the culture of the inhabitants of the tundra, to document in memory the history of the creation and development of the Purovsky district.

Until March 6, 2006, the museum was called the Municipal Institution "Tarko-Salinsky District Museum of Local Lore". Since its foundation, the museum has been formed as a local history museum. Its main direction is the collection and study of documentary materials collected on the Purovsk land and the acquisition of collections. With the population of the area always carried out work to collect exhibits. At the beginning of the establishment of the museum, there was no specially allocated room. Items were completed at the district House of Culture "Mayak". It was a small building. From the House of Culture, museum items, due to the lack of space, are transported to the premises of the agitation and cultural brigade, the methodologists of which were given an order to collect exhibits for the museum. Going to lectures and concerts in the camps of reindeer herders and brigades of fishermen, employees of the agitation and cultural brigade collected exhibits and replenished the collections, storing them in a room allocated to the brigade.

Great assistance in collecting exhibits was provided by the Purovsky state farm. He presented products of deer fur in the amount of 600 rubles (Soviet money). It was the first collection of ethnography. The Khalesovin Village Council handed over household items to the indigenous population. At that time, the Purovsky District Museum has 600 exhibits, diagrams, photographs and other documents.

In May 1975, in honor of the thirtieth anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the first exposition was opened. The work is carried out in several sections: nature, ethnography, the feat of the people of Yamal, production ties of the district. Since its opening, the museum has long occupied completely unsuited for this premises. At first it was two rooms in the village council building. In one there was an exposition on the history of the district, in the second - on ethnography and nature. Every year the museum fund has increased. Employees worked on various expeditions, collecting historical materials bit by bit. Over the years, the museum had to move from one building to another.

Since the museum was created on a voluntary basis and there are no funds for the purchase of exhibits, the rate of the museum employee was maintained at the expense of the AKB (agitation and cultural brigade). In December 1980, the local history museum of the village of Tarko-Sale was awarded the honorary title “People’s Museum” for its great work in the preservation, promotion of historical and cultural monuments and communist education of workers. In 1984, the local history museum confirmed the title of “People’s Museum”. In 1985, a letter of thanks was received from the Museum of Ethnography of the Peoples of the USSR. Exhibitions are organized for visitors: applied art, children's drawing, children's applied art, works of folk craftsman, wood sculptor Nikolai Bosyakov, photo exhibition "Economic Development of the District in the X Five-Year Plan".

The fund of the People's Museum is replenished by collecting collections, individual items from enterprises and the population. Indigenous people present clothes and household items to the museum. Unfortunately, the work of the museum at this time is weak. The staff is understaffed. The unit of the museum is still contained at the expense of the AKB. The total area of the museum is 98 square meters.

In 1987, the emergency building of the Tarkosalin village council, where the museum was located, was demolished and the old wooden building of the former state farm food store No. 2, with an area of 50 square meters, was allocated to the museum. Building with heating, requiring repair. It was a small unsuitable room, which would be more correct to call a storage facility. During the transfer, a large part of the collections were lost. Many materials on the history of the district, local history have disappeared. The museum had one hall, it housed the departments of nature, ethnography, Soviet and pre-Soviet periods. There was no repository, and some of the materials and exhibits were transferred for temporary storage to the school Museum of Military Glory. For quite a long time, the museum did not have a stationary exhibition area. In such a room, there could be no talk of exhibitions. The museum staff are waiting for the construction of a new room for the museum, conduct collecting work, organize the work of traveling exhibitions in the Museum of “Battle Glory” of school No. 1. Lectures on history, ethnography, local history have been developed and conducted. Unfortunately, all the exhibits transferred for temporary storage to the school were lost.

The main task of the National Museum is a comprehensive study of the region, its nature, history, socialist construction, economy, culture, life of the indigenous population. Since 1991, the museum has received state status, became a branch of the Salekhard District Museum. In 1993, the museum for visitors did not work in connection with the transfer of the exposition to a new room, in one of the rooms of the House of Culture "Jubilee".

In 1997, the Purovsky District Museum of Local Lore stands out as an independent institution. By June 1999, the construction and arrangement of the museum premises with an exhibition area of 184.5 square meters is completed. On September 12, 1999, a new premise of the local history museum was opened - the capital building on Republic Street. The total area of the museum is 308 sq.m., the exposition and exhibition area is 184.5 sq.m. But this room does not meet museum standards, as there is no room for storing exhibits.

In March 2000, the Charter of the Museum was adopted. Since April 2000, the museum has been registered as a municipal institution. In April 2005, the museum received additional space. The total area of the museum was 605.3 sq.m., including the exposition and exhibition area - 275.3 sq.m., the area under the storage of funds - 60.0 sq.m. Since that time, the stationary exhibition “Fuel and energy complex of the Purovsky district”, “Life and life of the forest Nenets”, “Let’s remember everyone by name...” has been added to the three stationary exhibition “Fuel and energy complex of the Purovsky district”. Along with this, an exhibition hall appeared.

The museum currently has 20 employees. There are departments: exposition and exhibition, department of cultural and educational activities, department of accounting and storage of funds.

The main directions of museum activity are currently: scientific and fund, exposition and exhibition and scientific and educational activities. An important component of all the activities of the museum is the research direction: scientific concepts for exhibitions, catalogs of stock collections, inventory books, research projects were developed, a virtual album “The World of Nenets Childhood” was published.

The staff of the museum actively participates in grant competitions of museum projects, district targeted programs.

The goal set for the museum staff is to actively participate in the formation of the value attitude of the population to its historical past, educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, national tolerance, respect for the cultural and historical traditions of the Purovsky district, awareness of the leading role of the oil and gas complex in the economy of the district is realized thanks to the work on the basis of stationary expositions of the museum: “History of the Purovsky District”, “Let us remember all by name....” War in the fate of Purovtsy, Life and Life of the Forest Nenets, Fuel and Energy Complex of the Purovsky District, Animal World of the Purovsky District, as well as through the creation of temporary exhibitions.

Every year, the museum staff organizes more than 20 exhibitions, both from its own funds and imported expositions. The annual attendance of the museum is about 9000 people.

The museum fund is replenished annually through the donation of objects from individuals, various organizations, as well as through the purchase of items of museum significance. The museum has more than 20,000 storage units.

MUK “PRICM” takes an active part in the social life of the city. Cooperation with all schools and kindergartens of the city has been maintained for many years, recently cooperation with schools of the district has been established. Students regularly visit museum exhibitions, thematic classes, music and art living rooms. Employees of the museum conduct field lectures for students of schools and vocational training. Methodical and informational support is provided to teachers and students in the search for historically reliable information.

No matter how the forms and methods change, the purpose of the museum’s work is unchanged – the desire to restore and preserve historical events from the life of the district in people’s memory.
