Tarusian Museum of Local History

About the company:

The Provincial Historical Museum was formed by members of the Kaluga Scientific Archival Commission and opened to visitors in 1897 in the architectural monument of the XVII century - the chambers of Korobov merchants. Kaluga Regional Museum of Local Lore since 1922 is located in the former city estate of merchant I.M. Zolotarev, built in 1805-1808. In the building of the estate of the merchant Zolotarev, murals of walls and ceilings, highly artistic bas-reliefs, inlaid floors are preserved - all these are works of the Moscow art workshop of S.P. Campioni. In the halls of the museum there are two exposition departments: the history and nature of the Kaluga Territory. The latest history is represented by the theme “Events of the Great Patriotic War on the territory of the region”.
