Tikhorets Historical and Local History Museum

About the company:

In the Tikhoretsk archive there is a decision of the Executive Committee of March 1, 1959 on the opening of a historical museum in Tikhoretsk in the premises of the Menshikov club.
The museum does not appear in an empty place. If such a decision was made in March 1959, it was preceded by a large search. And the first visitors crossed the threshold of the Tikhoretsky Museum on the first floor of the club. Menshikova only in 1963 - it took more than four years to find the appropriate premises and arrange the exhibition.
For many years, the editor of the newspaper “Leninsky Way” (the modern name of the newspaper – “Tikhoretsky Vesti”) Grigory Dzekun has been accumulating materials on the history of our city. Grigory Avksentievich’s contribution to the creation and opening of our museum is invaluable: he worked in regional archives, libraries and was its first director until 1982. In addition to him, the origins of the creation of our museum were veterans of the revolution of the Civil and Great Patriotic Wars, veterans of pedagogical work and simply people in love with their city. These people recreated the history of the emergence and development of our city, based on the memories of old-timers, publications in newspapers, archival materials.
The total area of the museum in 1969 was 178 square meters. m, by that time about 3,5 thousand exhibits-documents, photographs, various award signs, coins, books, weapons were collected in the museum funds. The main theme of the exposition of the People’s Museum of those years is the revolutionary history of the city of Tikhoretsk, the patriotism of Soviet people, combat and labor traditions. It is no coincidence that in August 1969, by the decision of the Executive Committee of the Regional Council of Deputies, our museum was incorporated into the Krasnodar Regional Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve as a branch, it became known as the Tikhoretsk Historical and Revolutionary Museum.
