Robinson Crusoe Square in Tobolsk

One of the most visited places in Tobolsk is Robinson Crusoe Square, founded in October 2007. It is a beautiful well-groomed corner of nature with fountains, bridges, pedestrian paths and parklands. There are also sculptural compositions, including the figures of the most famous traveler, as well as his faithful friend – Friday.

The reason for the foundation of the square and the installation of the monument to Robinson Crusoe in Tobolsk is the second book about the adventures of the sailor, in which Daniel Defoe described the fascinating journey of his heroes through the distant Siberian expanses, as well as their visit to Tobolsk. Local youth and couples gather daily in the park, it is always lively and fun.
