Tobolsk

Podgor district

Tobolsk, Tyumen region

Description:

Tobolsk district Podgor is the old district of Tobolsk. Many people come here to stroll through the medieval Russian streets. Here are unique samples of Siberian art of different centuries. In 1712, a stone tower of the Dmitriev Gate was built here. Most of the buildings in the Podgor area are made of wood, but there are also stone buildings. Near the old buildings there are newly built buildings.

On the edge of Podgor there is a real Tatar settlement. As in the capital of our homeland, in Moscow, in the area of Podgor has its own Red Square. This is the name of the street adjacent to the Kremlin. The walls and towers of the Podgorsk Kremlin were built in the eighteenth century. They're painted white. However, instead of the Moscow GUM, there is a prison on the square. It is now considered a museum. And once in it sat Chernyshevsky and Dostoevsky.
