About the company:

In 1887, a building set aside for a museum was built. All exhibit collections of the museum were divided into 5 parts: ethnographic, industrial, historical, educational and archaeological.

In 1895, catalogues of all museum collections were published. Most of the museum collections were exhibits from private donations, but since 1910 the museum begins to organize expeditions to the Tobolsk province.

In 1890, all the collections were transferred to the Tobolsk Society of the Provincial Museum. The Society adopted the Charter, the main focus of which was to familiarize the public with the history and development of culture of the Tobolsk province.

In 1891 Tsarevich Nikolai Alexandrovich took the museum under his patronage. The Tobolsk Museum of Local Lore is widely known in Russia and abroad.
