About the company:
Municipal institution of culture - the museum of historical and cultural heritage of Togliatti (MUK Museum IKN Togliatti) was founded on January 1, 2000. The appearance of the museum was preceded by the creation in October 1998 on the basis of the Togliatti Museum of Local Lore of the Department “Service for the Protection of Monuments”.
The Museum of Historical and Cultural Heritage can be considered a comprehensive open-air museum, because its main purpose is the protection and use of historical and cultural monuments of the city.
The subject of the museum’s activities is:
- scientific and methodological guidance for studying the state and restoration of monuments in the city;
- organization of the use of monuments;
- control over the observance by enterprises, institutions and organizations and citizens of the rules of protection, use, restoration of monuments, as well as over the implementation of measures to ensure the safety of monuments in the production of construction, road and other works; organization of repair of monuments on the balance sheet of the museum; formation of an information database on monuments of Togliatti;
- publications of the results of the work of the museum, scientific research in the form of catalogs, guidebooks and other printed publications, in the audio form of products;
- providing the population with a wide range of information services on the issues of historical and cultural monuments of Togliatti.
The museum staff developed and prepared documents adopted by the Togliatti City Duma on 21.06.2000:
- “Concept of preservation and use of historical and cultural heritage of Togliatti”,
- Regulations “On protection and use of historical and cultural monuments of Togliatti”,
- "Register of monuments of history and culture of Togliatti".
This is a fundamentally new approach to the protection and use of municipal monuments of history and culture of the city of Togliatti.
According to the adopted Register, 104 objects were taken under protection in the city. Of these, 35 objects are represented by town-planning complexes and single buildings. When assessing the objects of architecture of urban planning and civil history of the city of Togliatti, it is necessary to bear in mind the specific features of its development: the city arose as a completely new town-planning object in connection with the construction of the Kuibyshev HPP. Urban science of these years recommended building enlarged neighborhoods with low-rise buildings. The building arrays bear the signs of the stylistics of the last years of the Stalin era "Soviet neoclassicism" and "Victory style" - architectural and artistic images developed by major masters in the 40-50s.
Objects built in the 50s, and now represent a complete preserved environment. So the Freedom Square and the complex of buildings that make it belong to the time of the formation of the city as a large industrial and administrative center.
Especially holistic is the ensemble of the 50s in the village of Shluzov. The ensemble is represented by residential quarters and public buildings, organizing three small squares. The picturesque arches complete the unity of the complex. And now this part of Togliatti is called “little Petersburg”.
Of great importance in the history of the GO Togliatti have the first built facilities - this is the building of the first secondary school, and the first store, the first music school, the building of the first railway station.
Along with the objects built in the 50s, there are objects of the late XIX century and early XX century. So the town-planning objects of the end of the XIX century include wooden houses of merchant and philistine architecture, transferred from Stavropol. The most famous of them is the house where the great Russian artist I.E. Repin spent the summer in 1870. Of great interest is the house of the merchant Subbotin, on which an unusually beautiful carving has been preserved to this day.
By the beginning of the XX century there is a complex of buildings of the Zemstvo hospital (now a men's monastery). These are the only remaining buildings not moved from the old territory of Stavropol to the new site occupied by the city today.
There are 26 memorial and memorial plaques in Togliatti.
The number of monuments of monumental art is 43 objects. This includes personal monuments erected to people who played a great role in the history of the city and our state. These are E.N. Nikonov, V.I. Zhilin, K.N. Viktorov, U. Gromov - Heroes of the Soviet Union, V.P. Nosov - Hero of the Russian Federation, V.V. Banykin - the first chairman of the Stavropol Executive Committee, etc.
There are also works of art in Togliatti belonging to great masters. These are 3 compositions from the "Transport" series, authored by the People's Artist of the USSR A.A. Vasnetsov; monumental and decorative composition "Prometheus", author - Honored Artist of the RSFSR Yuri Bosko; monument to the founder Togliatti V.N. Tatishchev, author - People's Artist of Russia, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, member of the Presidential Council for Culture A.I. Rukavishnikov.
Archaeological security and rescue work became an important page in the life of the museum, because for many years the former cemetery of the old Stavropol (“Stavropol necropolis”) has been destroyed by the waters of the Kuibyshev reservoir. During the transfer of the city to a new place, burials of the XIX century, family crypts, remains of those who died in evacuation during the Great Patriotic War remained untransferred. After consultations with the Center for Archaeological Research of Moscow, the museum proposed to carry out security and rescue work on the necropolis of Stavropol. The proposal was approved by the city authorities. In 1999-2004, in cooperation with the Institute of Archaeology of the Volga region and the archaeological laboratory of the Samara Pedagogical University, security and rescue operations were carried out. As a result of these works, the remains of 354 people transferred from the destruction zone were reburied. In parallel, scientific research was carried out, which makes it possible to expand knowledge in the field of history, archaeology, anthropology and ecology of our area. Since 2003, archaeological security and rescue operations are under the jurisdiction of the Togliatti Museum of Local History.
As in any other museum, the Museum of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Togliatti is working on the acquisition and scientific processing of stock items, the formation of a scientific archive, guided tours and lectures, searching for partners and concluding cooperation agreements, and you can get the necessary advice.
