Tour to Samara Luka. Garibaldi Castle

Samarskaya Luka is a unique place of nature formed by the bend of the largest Volga River in the European part of Russia.

In central Russia, there are practically no mountains, and most of the "Samara Luka" is occupied by low, forested Zhiguli Mountains - the only mountains of tectonic origin not only on the Volga, but also on the entire vast territory of the Russian Plain. From the observation decks of the national park there is a beautiful view of the surrounding area!

What will we see?

Molodets mound - with it begins the 75-kilometer picturesque ridge of the Zhigulevsky mountains. The height of the mound is just over 200 meters (242.8). Sheer cliffs and ledges give the mound a harsh look.

The mountain is one of the mountains that form the mouth of the Shiryaev ravine.

The mountain column is covered with artificial caves, in which high-quality limestone was mined until the middle of the 20th century. This is a famous tourist site - Shiryaevsky galleries. Currently, a colony of bats has been found in the galleries, including rare species listed in the red book.

From the observation deck of Mount Popovoy, a majestic view of the Volga, Tsarev Kurgan and the village of Shiryaevo opens. Nearby there is a memorial sign of the Volga Bulgaria - an ancient state that existed on the Samara Luka in previous centuries.

Mount Camel is a bizarre rocky peak in the vicinity of the village Shiryaevo, in the tract "Goat's Horns". Here amazingly combines the outcrops of ancient rocks, the wide expanse of the Volga and dense forest thickets. From the top of the cliff, a magnificent panorama of the surroundings and the opposite bank of the Volga opens, a view of the famous Zhigulev Gate and the cut-off top of the Tsarev Kurgan.

Mount Brave is an excellent natural observation deck, which offers a magnificent view of the surface of the man-made Zhigulev Sea, the Komsomolsky district of Togliatti on the opposite shore, the panorama of the city of Zhigulevsk and the hydroelectric complex, the Zhigulevsky Mountains chain goes away.

Strelnaya Mountain is the second highest point of the Zhigulevsky Reserve and one of the most popular tourist routes in the Samara region (351 m). It offers excellent views of the Volga and the islands, as well as other mountain peaks.

On the way back we will visit Garibaldi Castle.

Departure from Kazan on Saturday at 03.00 am. Return back closer to 01.00 on Monday night.
