Monument to the fan

The home stadium for the Tom football team is the Trud stadium. It opened in 1929 and was nothing special until 2006. So far, an unusual monument has been erected in the sector of the Eastern Stand. The author of the project was the famous Tomsk sculptor Leonty Usov. He decided to implement his most unusual project – the Monument to the Fan. But he decided to place it not next to one of the city stadiums, but directly on one of the stands.

The installation of the bronze monument was timed to the anniversary of the fiftieth anniversary of Tomsk professional football. The statue represents a typical fan who is completely absorbed in the action on the pitch. In his hands he holds the newspaper Football Hockey, the shoe lace is untied, and a cigarette is about to fall out of his half-open mouth. It is interesting that the prototype of the fan was the original person. The image for the sculpture was a photo of a fan of the 50s from the archive of FC Tom. Unfortunately, his name has not survived.
