Monument to a newborn
at the maternity hospital No. 1, the corner of Lenin Avenue, 65 and Herzen St., 1, Tomsk, Russia
Description:
Tomsk is a city that adorns many unusual monuments. One of them is a monument to a newborn, inaugurated in May 2008.
The place for the monument was chosen very successfully - next to the maternity hospital No. 1, probably, so that citizens do not forget where the children come from. The sculpture looks like a cabbage head with a diameter of slightly less than a meter. From it, spreading the cabbage leaves, a tiny bronze baby appears. The author of an unusual and cute sculpture is the chairman of the Tomsk Regional Branch of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, sculptor Oleg Kislitsky.
Opening the monument, the formalities were observed: the head physician of the maternity hospital N1 Tatiana Rastokhina publicly measured the baby, after which she gave the sculptor a tag and a birth certificate, which recorded the height and weight of the baby (60 centimeters and 1.5 tons, respectively). They called the baby Leha.
