Torch: first meeting

Hello, friends! My name is Elizabeth. I'm a certified tour guide. I invite you to visit one of the oldest cities in Russia - the city of Torzhok.

During the tour you will:

• You will learn about the iconic places of the city.
• Walk through the old streets of Torzhok.
• Visit the oldest Orthodox monastery in Central Russia - Borisoglebsky Monastery.
• You will see the Old Ascension wooden church (it is also the church of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God).
• Take a walk through the historical center of Torzhka, the Shopping Rows, January 9 Square, Tveretskaya embankment.
• You will admire the Transfiguration Cathedral and the Resurrection convent.
• You will reach the Postal Staircase and the Torzhok Travel Palace.
• And this is not all that you can see and learn about Torzhka during the sightseeing tour.

The tour ends at the Borisoglebsky monastery. It can be visited on its own, without a tour. For my part, I will give all the information about it outside the walls of the monastery, but inside I will not be able to accompany, because only guides of their pilgrimage center can conduct excursions through the territory of the monastery.

The tour does not include a visit to the Novotorzh Kremlin. You can visit it yourself after the completion of our program (the Kremlin is located next to the Borisogleb monastery).

A sightseeing tour can take place on foot or with the participation of your car.

The price is indicated for a two-hour sightseeing tour for the company of 1-5 people.

At the end of the correspondence, I will write a little more about the organizational aspects:

Torzhok is located on the river Tverets and hills (8 hills). Therefore, strong wind and rain are possible. Dress, please, for the weather + have comfortable shoes for a long walk (winter favorites - valenki!).

Be prepared to climb. If this is difficult for you, having personal transport will be a convenient alternative.

The length of the walking route is 4-5 km. The tour is possible both on foot and with small crossings by your car. This will allow you to see more places and will not let you get tired if long walks for you / your company are tedious.

The wooden Old Ascension Church has certain opening hours, it is not open every day and not all day! It is not always possible to get into it, but usually on holidays and weekends the temple is open to the public.

Dear representatives of the fair sex, since there will be an opportunity to visit the existing church (Vedensky church at the Borisogleb monastery), I recommend you to take appropriate clothes (at least a headdress or scarf).

️ Also in the city there is the Museum of the Belt House, the Pushkin Museum, the Museum of the Susloparov Family House, museums from VIEM (All-Russian Historical and Ethnographic Museum); the Museum at the School of Gold Embroidery and the Museum of Golden Embroidery, master classes with them.
