River Tverets and Tveretskaya embankment
Russia, Tver region, Torzhok, Tveretskaya embankment
Description:
The river with the unusual name Tverets and the famous Tveretskaya embankment are quite deservedly the hallmark of a picturesque city in the Tver region - Torzhka.
The left tributary of the Volga is 188 km long, has a basin with a total area of 6510 km2 and originates in the Vyshnevolotsky reservoir, which is due to partial navigation.
The upper course of the river is strongly looping, with rolls and shoals, a wide and slightly cut valley, and the lower river current Tvertsy is distinguished by a pronounced vague form. The embankment of the left bank of the Tvertsy River is called Tveretskaya.
This area was renovated a few years ago. The historical buildings and the special architecture of the embankment are successfully combined with signs that are stylized for the last century, for example: “Pharmacy and perfume shop”. Residents and guests of the city walk here in the evenings.
