All-Russian Historical and Ethnographic Museum

During its existence, the museum managed to create highly qualified research personnel. Among the employees of the museum are 1 doctor and 3 candidates of science, 1 person is studying in postgraduate studies.

The result of the research activities of VIEM was the conduct of more than a dozen archaeological and ethnographic expeditions, which allowed to collect a large and largely unique material on the history, culture and life of not only Torzhka, Novotorzh land, but also nearby territories of the Upper Volga region. The results of this work are reflected both in the above-mentioned expositions and in several scientific collections of VIEM, monographs and numerous publications in various publications. One of the priorities of its work, VIEM considers work to popularize the historical and cultural heritage among young people. Based on the accumulated experience, VIEM employees have developed more than 30 lectures that arouse constant interest among schoolchildren and students; educational programs, cycles of lectures and classes on the history and culture of the Novotorzh land, Upper Volga region, Russia are being implemented for them.

Organizing exhibitions of children's drawings, conducting free lectures and excursions for veterans of war and labor, orphans and disabled children, the museum realizes its social mission of cultural institutions. Possessing a significant exposition, exhibition and research potential and being an institution of culture of federal subordination, VIEM currently has great opportunities to play a significant role in the cultural life of Torzhok, to contribute to the transformation of our year into a significant cultural and tourist center of the Upper Volga region.
