He said, “You only write well in a Russian village.” It’s like the air is full of thoughts! Thoughts beg for themselves.” The main treasure of the museum is the priceless collection of Turgenev items that preserve the memory of the great Russian writer. Among the museums of this order, I.S. Turgenev Museum is one of the few, where the collection almost entirely consists of genuine things that previously belonged to the ancestors of the writer and to him personally. These things that surrounded Turgenev in his Spassky house were not only witnesses of the writer’s creative work, but also participated in the creation of his works. The main house and buildings of the estate are surrounded by an ancient park. The park in Spaskom-Lutovinov, of course, was one of the best examples of Russian manor garden and park art of the late XVIII – early XIX centuries. The garden was laid out in English taste, with a regular park, apple orchards, greenhouses, fruit fields, labyrinths of winding snake paths. Since the founding of the park, about 2,000 century-old and two-hundred-year-old lindens, ash trees, fir trees, oak trees, silver poplars and trees of other breeds characteristic of the middle strip of Russia have been preserved.

During the tour, unique historical natural landscapes, sung by Turgenev, will be presented. Interesting and little-known facts from the life of the writer and his entourage will be told, which are reflected in the series of stories “Notes of the Hunter” and other works.
