Tula Museum of Local Lore is the head organization of the association "Tula Regional Historical, Architectural and Literary Museum". The Museum of Local History was founded on May 18, 1919. It included collections of the former Chamber of Antiquities, works of art from nationalized landlord estates. The funds store valuable collections on archaeology, paleontology, numismatics, ethnography, as well as on the nature, history, economy and culture of the region. The collections of the museum contain interesting documents and things related to the life and activities of outstanding people of the Tula land, the revolutionary movement, the events of the Civil and Great Patriotic Wars, samples of products of Tula enterprises, gifts to Tula people from foreign countries, and other materials. Currently there is an exposition "Nature of the Tula Territory". The local history museum conducts a great research and educational work, organizes exhibitions, including visiting ones, is a scientific and methodological center of local history work in the region. |
