Museum "House on Novinskaya"

ooh Lenina, 59/8, Tutaev

About the company:

The first museum in Tutaev was established in 1919. During the twentieth century, it was disbanded several times and reopened. As a branch of the Yaroslavl Art Museum was opened in 1990. Until 2000 it operated as an exhibition hall. Since 2000, it has developed as the only museum in Russia of the life of the provincial bourgeoisie "House on Novinskaya". The exposition area of the branch increased from 3 to 18 halls.

The museum has two permanent exhibitions - "Provincial Bank", "Apartment of the Bank Manager". In 2005, the exhibition complex included three new interactive museums: "Romanov Nail", "Romanov Lamb", Children's Museum "Romanov Sheep and Co." The image is organically combined with the historical space of the city. The exhibits in the museum halls “Provincial Bank” and “Bank Manager’s Apartment” live in a natural environment, which makes the museum a real “memory theater”. From generation to generation, citizens pass on legends about what Romanov was famous for all over Russia: the Romanov sheep and the Romanov bow, the Romanov nail and the Romanov lace.

Museum "House on Novinskaya" is special. Conceived as a part of the mythologized history of Romanovo-Borisoglebsk, he became the last urban mythologeme.
