My favorite city. Tver. Sightseeing tour
Description:
Built by the generosity of Catherine the Great, the city of Tver attracts untouched glass and concrete classical architecture of the 18th century. The most interesting development with whole quarters of the times of the magnificent century of Catherine, the Imperial Palace, the embankment of the Volga, the geometry of the squares, the legends of medieval Tver.
During the tour, we will talk about two epochal events in the history of the city, two semantic accents that defined the face and spirit of modern Tver - the struggle of Moscow with the Tver princes in the Middle Ages and the construction of the city under Catherine the Great. You will learn about the tragic fate of the holy Prince Michael Tversky, the policy of the Tver Princely House and how his confrontation with Moscow ended. We will walk along the central street of Tver - the Soviet and the most beautiful embankment of Stepan Razin, see the three-beam layout of the city center, learn what is a "single facade" and the European royal square. I will tell you why Tver is called Little Petersburg, and I will mention the European analogues that underlie its modern architectural image. Every city has its own face. The face of Tver is determined by the architecture of the time of Catherine’s brilliant age and four rivers that ran through the “regular” strict layout of the city, giving it a relaxed picturesqueness and a certain metropolitan splendor and scope.
We will see panoramas of the city from both banks of the Volga, "Old" and "New", the Eastern bridges across the flowing through the heart of every Russian beauty Volga. I will show the symbol of the city - a monument to Athanasius Nikitin, the great Russian traveler who went from Tver along the Volga to find his way to the fabulous and mysterious India. We will see the famous monument to A.S. Pushkin on the embankment, one of the best monuments to A.S. Pushkin in our country, learn what Alexander Sergeyevich “eated” while driving through Tver and Torzhok and how you can now feel the local specificity at the tip of your tongue. We will walk along the pedestrian street, where I will tell about local souvenirs and why local residents have long been called “Tver goats”. It is inapplicable to see our main attraction, the "architectural pearl" of the Upper Volga region - Tver Imperial Palace I will tell about the difficult and very eventful and steep turns the fate of the mistress of the palace - Grand Duchess Catherine Pavlovna, and what role the Emperor of France Napoleon Bonaparte played in it.
If there is time, desire, the possibility of using vehicles, then in addition to the representative part of the city, we will see the "non-parade" Tver. We will walk or drive through the streets of the quarter of the preserved wooden residential buildings of the 19th century, we will see the oldest of the existing buildings of Tver - the temple "White Trinity", built by "Tveretin, Vedensky of Moscow" Gavrila Tushinsky in 1564. We will see how the workers and employees of the “Association of Tver Manufactory of Paper Products” lived – the so-called “Morozovsky Town” – a complex of buildings in the style of industrial modernity, including more than 50 buildings of residential, public, industrial and economic purpose, a kind of prototype of a modern microdistrict. Enjoying the atmosphericity of this completely authentic place for the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries, in the full sense of the word finds for filmmakers, we will finish our excursion in the Khrybryadestvensky Monastery and the Resurrection Cathedral next to it. Where from the nineteenth century we shall move to the twentieth century. The unusual appearance of the neo-Russian church built in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, its non-standard constructive solution expressing technical discoveries and new aesthetic ideals of the coming century, as well as the silver crust of the middle of the 18th century exhibited in the temple, in which the relics of Mikhail Tversky were located, will be the logical conclusion of the tour of Tver, where different historical epochs intertwined, closing in an inseparable, multifaceted, deep and integral image.
