Annunciation Church

Tver region., Kalyazinsky district, D. Budymirovo

Description:

The village of Budimirovo is known from the Dmitrov Pisces Book for 1627-1629, which says the following: "Behind the deacon behind Ivan Bolotnikov, the ancient patrimony of the village Budimer is Budilovo, and in the village the church is the Annunciation of the Most Pure Virgin Mary and the limit of Nikola the Wonderworker are wooden upwards, and in the church there are images and books and robes and bells and every church structure of the patriarch."

In the Dmitrov Census Book for 1646 there is an entry: “the village of Budymerovo and in it the church is the Annunciation of the Most Pure Theotokos and in the limits of the wonderworker Nicholas and in the village the courtyard of patrimony and peasant households.” It is also known that in 1813 the wooden church burned down, about which there is a report addressed to the Archbishop of Tver and Kashin from the priest of the Temple Athanasius Petrov.

The last message about the church in Budimirovo: "The Church of the Annunciation, built in 1872, stone, three thrones: the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, the Assumption of the Mother of God and St. Nicholas."

What is so striking the Annunciation Church in the Tver hinterland? Its unusual composition, the main volume of which is a circle, with a colonnade inscribed on the inner radius. It looks very impressive from the bell tower adjacent to the temple from the west. Now, however, a heavy lock flaunts on the bell tower.

And yet, this temple, even in its destruction, with a collapsed roof after a fire, seems extraordinary thanks to the artistic techniques and solutions found by an unknown architect. But it is better to see once than to hear a hundred times.
