Russia, Tver, St. Trinity, 38.
Description:
The Church "White Trinity" is amazingly preserved, the oldest stone building in the city of Tver. It was built in 1564 under Ivan the Terrible. Funds for the construction of this significant church for the history of Tver were allocated by the merchant Gavrila Andreevich Tushinsky. The temple is located in Zatmachye - district of the city of Tver. The name of the church apparently derives from its white color. Brick, white stone, plastered and whitewashed – materials from which the temple was created.
During the repair of the Transfiguration Cathedral, the "White Trinity" before the revolution served as the main cathedral of the city. They served in the church and during the Soviet era. When the city was liberated from the Germans, the temple for a long time stood unclosed and desecrated. In 1944 it was transferred to the Orthodox Church.
In the church the relics of St. Makari Kalyazinsky are kept.
