Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh
Russia, Tver region, Tver, Rosa Luxemburg street, 19.
Description:
Earlier, in 1749, this place was the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, which was built with money donated by parishioners. But after the Lithuanian invasion, the temple was destroyed.
In 1775, a merchant from Tver, Gregory Bogdanov, laid on this place a temple of stone, which later was named after St. Sergius of Radonezh. After construction, in 1780, the temple had a warm limit in honor of Elijah the Prophet. After that, two more redistributions were built, in which there was a refectory and a bell tower of three tiers.
During the Soviet Union, the church was closed and demolished the western porch and the upper tiers of the bell tower. But, in 1977, the lower part of the church was restored and completed with the construction of a drum with an onion cupola.
Since October 2004, services in the church have resumed.
