Trinity Beyond the Volga Church

Tver region, Tver, Akademika Tupolev str

Description:

The stone church "Trinity beyond the Volga" was built in the XVIII century. Not far from it is the Assumption Cathedral. In sunny good weather, the domes of the church brightly shimmer with gold. The Church of the Trinity beyond the Volga is perhaps one of the best monuments in the Tver region, which is attributed to the Naryshkin style. It is distinguished by a special elegant decoration of facades.

The construction of the temple began in a bad year on the money of local merchants Arefyev Alexei and Matvey, who thus supported the hungry, giving them work. The Trinity wooden church was dismantled and taken to the village of Bor. The new temple with facade white-stone decoration and brick plastered walls was consecrated in 1737.

According to the project of I.F. Lviv in 1848, the southern chapel of the temple was built. Already later, the refectory was slightly expanded, its porch was remade, and the vaults were painted again. In the 30s, the heads over the altars in the temple were dismantled, as well as the tier of the bell tower. However, the bell tower was restored half a century later. The domes of this temple were first gilded during the Soviet era.

In 2010, the church was handed over to the Russian Orthodox Church, and now it is being restored.
