Chapel of John of Kronstadt

Russia, Tver, Tchaikovsky Avenue, house 19

Description:

The chapel of John of Kronstadt in Tver was built in 1913. She was immediately consecrated. The building style is modern. The construction of the chapel was timed to the date of celebration of the 300th anniversary of the accession of the Romanov dynasty. The composition of the chapel is very peculiar, the silhouette tending upwards - all this is atypical for the old Russian style of building Orthodox churches. The project of the chapel was handled by engineer P.F. Bogomolov.

The chapel was built at the expense of the Orshinsky monastery. Archbishop Anthony of Tver and Kashin gave his blessing for the construction of the chapel, and the city Duma of Tver found a suitable place.

After the revolution, the chapel was used as a kerosene shop, a souvenir shop. In 1990, the chapel was consecrated again and received the name of John of Kronstadt. The chapel is currently in operation.
