Temple of Blessed Xenia of St. Petersburg
Russia, Tver, P. Savelyeva Street, 25
Description:
For almost 10 years, as in Tver opened a church in honor of the Russian Orthodox saint, juridical Xenia of St. Petersburg. The temple was built in the "Youth" microdistrict. First, in 2002, a stone was laid with a particle of the relics of the saint at the site of the future construction of the temple. At that time there was a swamp in this place, I had to drain it, import additional soil. In 2004, the first liturgy was held in the new church. Three years later, a sculpture of Saint Xenia was installed in front of the entrance. It was created by sculptor Boris Sergeev.
The style of the temple is very unusual - low, round, the color is sky blue, the roof is a beautiful brown color, the cross is crowned by a small dome. The color of the temple is symbolic - the color of the sky, purity and spirituality, which Ksenia St. Petersburg carried all her life. Not far from the temple of St. Xenia, they plan to build a cathedral in honor of the Praise of the Virgin.
