City garden in the city of Tver

d. Tver, ul. Soviet

Description:

In the center of Tver, on the right bank of the Volga is the main city park, popularly called simply - Gorsad. At the end of the XVIII century, a traveling palace was built here, around which tree planting began. The resulting palace garden was redesigned several times and made changes inspired by the European landscape fashion of the time. The decoration of the garden was a lime alley, on both sides framed by flower beds.

Even before the revolution, this park became a popular place for young people. Here, not only did couples walk and relax with noisy companies, but also played tennis on specially equipped courts. Every year, not only the park, but also the surrounding streets experienced changes. Embankments and neighboring boulevards paved with cobblestones, installed many benches. Gradually landscaping affected the whole area, and not only in the park, but also on the streets began to appear poplars and chestnuts.

In 1904, the first fountain was built on the donations of merchant Ivan Vaganov. Today, there are several cafes and a pop stage on the territory of the park, where all city-wide holidays and events take place. Here is the only children's amusement park in the city.
