Nikolsky
d. Tver, 4th Street. Red Sloboda, 26
Description:
St. Nicholas Church is located in the Russian city of Tver. The temple is located in Krasnaya Sloboda - an area that developed in the late XIX - early XX century as a working settlement.
The original design of the temple, designed by the architect A. Fedorov, provided for a five-headed structure, but in the end the church was built with many simplifications. The construction of the temple continued from 1902 to 1909. Also at this time, a parish school was built, the wooden building of which was also designed by A. Fedorov. The school was connected to the temple by a gallery.
In 1937, the church was closed, after which the building was abandoned for a long time.
Restoration work is currently underway in the temple. On the site of the bell tower destroyed in the 1930s, a new one was built, and the dome crowned with a cross again rose above the church.
