Soviet Square

st. Prince Michael of Tver Square, Tver

Description:

Sovetskaya Square (formerly Semicircular Square, Post Square) is the main square of the city of Tver, located in the Central District, at the intersection of Soviet and Volodarsky streets.

It is the basis of the three-beam system of streets: Novotorzhskaya – Sovietskaya – Volnoy Novgorod, which was designed by the architect P.R. Nikitin after the great fire of 1763. The streets radiate from the square. This construction of the square gives the city center a rare harmony and compositional completeness.
