Chukavino Manor

Tver region, Staritsky district, Chukavino village

Description:

Manor Chukavino is located in Staritsky district of Tver region. In the XVII century it belonged to the boyars Sytin. In the XVIII century, the daughter of Dmitry Sytin was married to Peter Choglokov, an ensign who was a relative of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna herself. This kinship explained the scale with which the Chukavino estate was built. Later, the possession passed to the Bolkhovsky family as a dowry, then to the Velikopolskys. Ivan Velikopolsky, the son of Nadezhda and Yermolai, was acquainted with A.S. Pushkin, which made him famous.

From 1740 to 1747, instead of wooden, a church was built of stone, this white stone was mined in local Staritsky quarries. In the middle of the XVIII century, a manor house was built. In addition, at the same time a park was laid, which was distinguished by valuable tree species.

Today, the Vladimir Church, the wing with the crest of the Choglokovs, the main house and the park are preserved. Local residents say that Moscow writers issued a lease for 49 years, but there was no investment in the estate. Currently (2013) is the restoration of the estate.
