Canoplino Manor
village of Konoplino, Staritsky district, Tver region
Description:
The history of the estate begins with 1747. Then it was owned by the landowner Sytin, who sold it to S. B. Bolkhovsky.
After almost 100 years, hemp goes to the writer I.I. Lazhechnikov. He is known as the author of historical literature. In the estate he wrote the drama “Oprichnik” and the novel “Basurman”. N.V. Stankevich and V.G. Belinsky came to visit him. Despite his less successful activities, Lazhechnikov did not have the money to maintain the estate properly. He had already begun to fall into disrepair, and on occasion he sold it.
After the writer, Canoplino changed many owners. The last owner was the breeder A.F. Shishkarev. He fixed the estate and significantly expanded it. Around the manor house he arranged a park with an artificial pond, built a stable and bred horses of expensive breeds. After his death, his wife made a convent out of the estate. The date of its discovery is 1877.
In 1917, under Soviet rule, the monastery was ruined and a psychoneurological boarding school and a nursing home were arranged in it. More recently, it was reconstructed, repeating the old style.
