Islet Manor
village Ostrov, Vyshnevolotsky district, Tver region
Description:
The estate was built at the end of the XIX century. It appeared thanks to the famous scientist, collector and archivist A.A. Shirinsky-Shikhmatov. He was attracted by the picturesque nature and clean air. All the buildings are made to his taste. The host house is made of wood and brick. It is a collection of several buildings in one line. There's a small wing nearby. The coat of arms of Shirinsky-Shikhmatov is installed on the roof of the house. Not far from the main building of the estate are small house owners.
If you drive a little less than a kilometer from the manor house, you can see the ruins from the Assumption Church. There the collector kept his old icons, which he collected all over Russia. The temple was built at the same time as the manor house, but unfortunately has not survived to this day. It was destroyed in Soviet times.
There's an old garden around the estate. A little to the right stretched Lake Imolozhye.
