Pryamukhino Manor
Description:
The Pryamukhino estate in the past was a famous noble nest. Until the end of the XVIII century, it was owned by the nobles of Shishkova, who built a profitable estate on the banks of the Osuga River with the Pokrovsky Church, built in 1760. There was also a windmill and a manufactory that produced canvas.
In 1779 the estate passed to A.M. Bakunin, Tver landowner, publicist and poet. This period is the time of the economic recovery of the estate, when a stone shop, outbuildings and a horse yard were laid here.
The Intercession Church was built in 1808-1826. Interestingly, the temple was connected to the store with a ramp, which was beautifully decorated with natural stone. In the temple of the cross-type there were 2 churches, summer and winter type, as well as a family crypt.
The Bakunin family was a kind of center of attraction for representatives of the Russian intelligentsia. In the estate were Belinsky, Turgenev, Tolstoy and many others.
The estate has reached our days, however, in a very deplorable state. Today, tourists can see here a church and an abandoned house of gentlemen, a manufactory and disparate manor buildings. The once well-maintained park is in a neglected state.
