Rylovo Manor

Manor Rylovo (Tver region, Kalyazinsky district)

Description:

In the Kalyazinsky district of the Tver region, on the right bank of the Zabni, the Rylovo estate is located. Rare architecture of the unknown author is located in the middle of the road Kalyazin-Uglich. It was first mentioned in the XVIII century (more precisely at the end), then the estate belonged to Prince Shakhonsky.

The estate, built in the XVIII century, has unusual elements of architecture: bevelled corners, a stone portico at the level of the 1st floor and a wooden portico at the level of the 2nd. As mentioned, the author’s name is unknown.

For a long time, the Rylovo estate belonged to princes Shakhonsky (Shekhonsky), At the end of the century, its owner was second major Alexei Vasilyevich, then it went to lieutenant Fedor Alekseevich. Later, Alexei Fedorovich (son of lieutenant) was the last representative of the Shakhonskys, his family was suppressed.

In the 1890s, the estate passed into the possession of the nobles of the Urusovs. First in the hands of Gerasim Gavrilovich, who was a composer, and later his son Pyotr Gerasimovich.

Unfortunately, the house is now empty. Its doors and windows are open, brickwork in some places is destroyed. But the estate is strong and there is still a possibility to restore it. Behind the house was a park, and today its remains are preserved. The Assumption Church, built in 1780, was converted into a barn and now it is difficult to guess the cultural heritage.
