Description:

Shcherbovo Estate was built in the 1830s on the banks of the Osugi River and originally belonged to the nobles Shishkov. There was a beautiful garden around the house.

In the decor of the lord’s house, pilasters, arched and rectangular depressions were used. According to the memoirs of Princess Kropotkina, the decoration of the upper floor of the house was much richer than the lower. In the hall of the house and in its library there were magnificent parquet floors, and in the rooms there were giant wooden doors of different colors.

The founders of the estate - the nobles of Shishkova, later, the estate was owned by gentlemen Butenev, Povolo-Shveykov, who then intermarried with Bakunins, who lived in the neighboring village of Pryamukhino. Interestingly, one of the representatives of this kind later married Peter Kropotkin, a world-famous anarchist.

In 1919, the noble estate was nationalized.
