The Assumption Church in the village of Nikolo-Rozhok
village Nikolo-Rozhok, Ostashkovsky district, Tver region
Description:
The village of Nicolo-Rozhok itself is very old. In the IX century on its territory was a rapid trade Krivichi. At first it was a small parking lot, which later grew into a separate settlement.
In the XV century, the territory was owned by Dmitry Donskoy. The villagers asked him to build a church. The prince did not refuse and erected a wooden Nikolsk monastery of Nicholas the Wonderworker. The church served for some time and gradually fell into disrepair. The villagers again went to ask for the temple, but this time not to the prince, but to the spiritual consistory. In 1768, the Assumption Church was rebuilt.
The building is made in Baroque style. This is evident in the crowned five-head and four. A huge bell tower still works today. The temple is visible from afar, because it rises majestically on a hill.
In 2008, the church was renovated.
