Russia, Tver region, Ostashkovsky district, Kravotyn village.
Description:
The Tver region is rich in interesting architectural monuments - one of them is the Vvedenskaya church, built in the village of Kravotyn, Ostashkovsky district, it is still active today. This place can be found seven kilometers from the Nile Desert. From historical sources it is known that the wooden church “Introduction of the Most Holy Mother of God into the Temple” existed here in the XVI century.
The reconstruction of the church on stone, began in 1782 and was completed in 1791. The decoration of the temple continued until 1802. The separately standing bell tower was rebuilt a little later, its tower is decorated with a high spire. The building of the temple consists of a high two-light four, covered with a closed vault, which is crowned by five domes of gray color with crosses. The unique iconostasis of the Church of the Virgin, created by local woodworkers, was delighted. Unfortunately, only part of it has survived to this day – it is the royal gate with the scene of the Annunciation, which was transported to the local history museum.
The five-headed snow-white Vvedenskaya church can be seen from afar, it rises beautifully against the background of pine forest and the blue waters of Seliger.
