About the company:

The museum was opened on April 1, 1940 in the village of Upper Trinity of Kashinsky district in a house owned by the family of M.I. Kalinin. Mikhail Ivanovich Kalinin (1875-1946) was a prominent state and party figure of the Soviet era, a native of the Tver land. The peasant house in which the family of Kalinin’s parents lived, built in 1916, was partially rebuilt in 1927, has a memorial character. Kalinin stayed there during his visits to his homeland until 1931.

At the house-museum, economic buildings are preserved: a courtyard, a canopy, a cellar, a barn, a well, a bath. The House-Museum in 1977-1987 had additional exhibition space (branch) in the People’s House (in the Upper Trinity). In the late 1980s - mid-1990s, it was temporarily preserved. During the Soviet period, the museum was positioned as a historical and revolutionary museum. Today it is memorial and more ethnographic in nature.

The exposition is located in the living quarters of the house, the interiors of the dining room, the bedrooms of Mikhail Ivanovich Kalinin, the bedrooms of Maria Vasilievna Kalinina, the guest room with a window on the terrace, the summer room in the attic (six rooms in total). In addition to traditional peasant household items, the museum contains memorial items, personal belongings of M.I. Kalinin, his mother, gifts to Mikhail Ivanovich from workers’ and peasants’ organizations, furniture used in the Kalinin family, authentic family photos.
