Epiphany Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church

Tyumen region, Ishim

Description:

The Epiphany Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ishim, Tyumen region, is the first stone temple in Priishima. In 1775, they began collecting donations for the construction of the temple and laid the first stone. However, only in 1814 the construction of this magnificent building with a height of 36 meters was completed. The two-storey building of the temple has a three-part composition, traditional for Russian architecture: a temple with an altar, a refectory and a porch with a bell tower.

The Church became the center of the spiritual Orthodox life in Priishima. In 1930, under Soviet rule, a grain warehouse was made from the church, which negatively affected the building. At the end of the XX century, the temple was restored, returning it to its former glory.
