ooh Lenina, 22, Tyumen, Tyumen region, Russia
Description:
The Orthodox Church of Michael the Archangel is one of the many attractions of Tyumen, famous for its architecture and rich history. This is one of the first churches built on Lenin Street, formerly known as Spasskaya. Initially, the monastery was built in 1616 in a wooden version, in 1789 it acquired a stone appearance and was consecrated. The creation of the Orthodox Church of Michael the Archangel took place at the junction of two architectural styles - classicism and Siberian Baroque, in this form it has reached our days.
From 1934 to 1945, the temple building was overhauled three times. The first reconstruction took place in 1934, as a result, the dome and bells were removed, and the room was set aside for an office, a club, warehouses and garages. In 1941, there was a second restructuring, as a result, the temple was equipped in a garrison laundry. In 1945, the church was rebuilt into a dormitory and dining room. Currently, a major reconstruction of the temple is underway, as a result of which it will again be able to perform its immediate function.
