The Bridge of Lovers
At the beginning of Republic Street at the intersection with Lenin Street
Description:
The cable-stayed pedestrian bridge over the Turu River in Tyumen was built in 1987. Earlier on this site was a small wooden bridge that collapsed into the water in 1982, unable to withstand the impact of time. The bridge connecting the two banks of the river, among the townspeople, firmly established the status of the “Bridge of Lovers”. Here at all times of the year, couples make dates and lovers walk. If you look closely, the entire bridge is filled with numerous declarations of love. The bridge is especially beautiful at night. Two high supports are equipped with a complex lighting system made by MT Electro in 2004.
Designers Purgin Nadezhda and Vladimir Strigulin set themselves the task of organically fitting the bridge into the surrounding landscape, despite the urban cable-stay construction. At the same time, the river is navigable, and it was necessary to take into account that the light of the bridge did not interfere with the vessels passing below. This was achieved with the help of competent night illumination and main lighting. In addition to lovers, the bridge was chosen by extremes. Very often, in the summer, you can see lovers tickle their nerves that jump from one support bridge to another. Even from the ground it looks very impressive.
