Monument to A.I. Odoevsky

Tyumen region, Ishim, K. Marx St

Description:

The monument to A.I. Odoevsky was erected in the city of Ishim not by chance. Alexander Ivanovich Odoevsky (1802-1839), a poet-Decembrist, was exiled to hard labor for twelve years. After serving in the prison and settlements, Odoevsky arrived in the city of Ishim, where he lived for a short time, but wrote several of his poems.

One of the city streets in Ishim was named after him, and in 1989 a memorial bust was erected to the poet on Karl Marx Street. The bronze bust is made in the style of romanticism and represents Odoevsky as a noble officer in a uniform with epaulets and a coat thrown over his shoulder.
